In collaboration with Kuching Beach Cleaners and Sarawak Eco Warriors, IEM Sarawak Branch and its Young Engineers Section organized a beach clean up at Pandan Beach Lundu to help raise awareness about plastic pollution. The event was well supported by Chemsain Engineering Sdn Bhd and also Chung Hua Middle School No. 3. Around 70 persons participated in the clean up consisting of members from IEM, Kuching Beach Cleaners, Chemsain, and Chung Hua Middle School No. 3. The group managed to collect 64 bags of rubbish, amounting to 150kg in weight. The large majority of the trash picked up was found to be plastic bottles. While some other trash types collected were such as food wrappers, food packaging, cigarette butts , toys, and even diapers. May this be a reminder for us all to always dispose of our rubbish in the correct places. Leave nothing but footsteps behind. Let us work together to keep Mother Nature clean and healthy.
